Ethanol & Energy Today

Sadly, it seems people are more interested in what's happening to their favorite pop star than they are about what's happening in our world. A 'sign of the times', I'm sure. However, anyone paying even the slightest bit of attention to real news has most likely heard of ethanol. "Yes," you're thinking, "I've heard of it, but what exactly is it and how does it affect me?"
Simply put, ethanol is an alternative fuel to petroleum, made from corn in the United States(though it can be made from other plants, corn is currently the most used here).
Ethanol is by no means a "new" thing-- it's been produced for years. The reason it's "in" at the moment is that people are becoming more aware. Aware that oil is expensive, and taking more than just a pretty penny out of their pockets. Aware that consumption is on the rise, while resources remain finite. Aware that our world is changing, as a result of our careless behavior.
What it means to you is certainly not so easily defined. Do you take responsibility for your contribution and realize you need to help find a solution, or do you deny that global warming is even occurring?
If you've an educated mind, following simple facts, you realize energy is in fact a problem. Now, the question remains: What do we do about it? Cease petroleum consumption? Use alternative energy sources?
I plan to explore different aspects of this issue in further posts.

I enjoyed reading your blog because I like the issue that you chose. It is such a big deal because I think we do need to find a better source of fuel. And its hurting the world. Well good job :]

mmmhhh...well its really hard to say my opinions becuase i dont wanna hurt anyone and/or get in a debate but im gonna go ahead and throw it out there, Why spend your time worrying about whats gonna happen to the earth? why worry about something thats not even gonna happen in your life time? the simple fact of the matter is we do not have the great minds we need to try and come up with a plan to start saveing the earth. Sure i like it just as much as the next guy its a cool place but if we all start liveing in fright of whats gonna happen tomrow is pointless we will be turned into people i just dont like at the moment xD and if it happens it happens you cant stop what god saids gonna happen.( i personally dont believe in him myself but i do believe theres a power out there controlsing whats goin on.) so im just saying dont worry about tomrow and start liveing like todays your last 'cause it might be,haha, if we find an alternative fuel GREAT good job for us we just dont have the brain power at the moment but we might in the near future.

Very good. I like the fact that you make people actually think about your topic with the questions.

I think that your post is a well writen piece. Since the issue is modern and I agree that we are just turning to it since it costs a pretty penny for gasoline. The comment about being in denial of global worming is a clever line. Also I am intrested in hearing of the other energy sourcses.

I agree tht people are more intrested in celebs then whats going on with the world. I personally dont care whats happening with celebs. I think that its inportant to find a better fuel resource because the higher prices go with gas the less I will be driving and cars are setting off a lot of pollution which is destroying the Earth.

Many adults in the United States are concerned about climate change, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 47 per cent of respondents think global warming is a very serious problem, while 26 per cent deem it as somewhat serious.
